Campus Ministry Mission Statement

Immaculata University’s Campus Ministry is a spiritual home for all students. Our community is rooted in the Catholic & IHM traditions and inspired by the life and charism of St. Alphonsus Liguori, Mother Theresa Maxis, and Fr. Gillet. We grow in relationship with God, ourselves, and others through service, prayer, and fellowship.

Mk 12:28b-34

"Love your neighbor as yourself"

On the heels of the upcoming 2024 election, this gospel comes at the perfect time. Jesus' response to the question posed by the scribe comes as a reminder that we are called to be a people of love, and it is by this we are truly following Christ. Holding different political views and affiliations does not excuse the behavior of hating, disregarding, or being uncharitable and unloving to fellow humans. The call to love our neighbor does not extend only to those we know and like, those who share similar interest and beliefs, those we agree with. The temptation to see our neighbor, who may be different from us as the enemy, as the opponent must be resisted and refuted. Such a position cannot be for a believer in Christ. Even with strong differences, we must work at finding ways at preserving peace and unity with our neighbor, our brothers and sisters. Our call to love does not change, or bend based on our positions.

Let us not become blinded to this fundamental and important commandment of Christ and let us always ask the Lord to make us people who love and love deeply.

"Saints are not unreachable or distant heroes, but people like us, our friends, whose starting point is the same gift we have received: Baptism. Indeed, if we think about it, we have certainly met some of them, some everyday saints: some righteous person, someone who lives the Christian life seriously, with simplicity... holiness is also a journey, a journey to be made together, helping each other, united with those excellent companions who are the saints. They are our elder brothers and sisters, on whom we can always count: the saints support us and, when we take a wrong turn along the way, with their silent presence they never fail to correct us. They are sincere friends, whom we can trust, because they desire our well-being. In their lives we find an example, in their prayers we receive help and friendship, and with them we are bound in a bond of brotherly love.
